a-metal AG delivers first metal printers

Zurich – a-metal AG has delivered its first four systems for 3D metal printing. Now the spin-off of the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology Zurich from Technopark Zurich is looking for investors.

a-metal AG has realized its market entry. Four initial metal 3D printing systems have already been delivered to customers, the start-up company, which emerged from the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Zurich in 2023 and is based in Technopark Zurich, announced in a press release. In addition, all ten pilot program places have already been sold. However, a-metal offers interested companies a pre-series of 3D printers.

The 3D printer for metal, called MVP, is designed to enable SMEs to get started with metal 3D printing. Particular emphasis was placed on the ease of use of the system. "I did the whole process with an employee who wasn't there for the training and the menu navigation was great," Stefan Ziörjen from NT K+D AG, one of the young company's first customers , is quoted as saying in the press release. "He was able to start the printer without much help."

The system is now to be further developed and preparations made for series production. For this, a-metal is dependent on new capital. "Now that we have developed the MVP into a first deliverable system within 9 months, we are looking for suitable investors who would like to support us on our further path," Stephan Steiner, CEO and co-founder of a-metal AG, is quoted in the press release. ce/hs
