Winterthur – Autoneum has added a fully recyclable side trim for the trunk to its portfolio of components made exclusively from polyester. Production waste can be recycled and recycled fibers can be granulated and spun into new fibers.
Autoneum has developed a sustainable concept for trunk components made of 100 percent polyester. The latest addition to this growing portfolio from the automotive supplier is a fully recyclable trunk side trim. It is based on the existing Propylat PET technology. This fully recyclable technology variant is part of the Autoneum Pure sustainability label.
As the Winterthur-based company points out in a press release, this new component is completely recyclable, just like its mono-material carpet systems, which are also made entirely of polyester. Production waste can be recovered, processed and recycled in a closed material cycle. The recycled fibers can also be granulated and spun into new fibers. They are also lightweight and sound-absorbing.
The new trunk side trim is also available under the Autoneum Blue sustainability label. Blue products consist of at least 30 percent recycled PET, which was collected in coastal areas polluted with plastic.
According to the company, the concept for trunk components made of 100 percent polyester is not limited to side panels, but can also be used for trunk lids and other trunk panels. They are available in Europe, North America and China. ce/mm
