Axpo takes over Zurich-based software company LINIA

Baden AG/Zurich – The energy group Axpo has acquired LINIA. The Zurich-based service provider for the automated inspection of electricity grids will be integrated into Axpo’s subsidiary Axpo Grid. The LINIA brand is to be retained.

LINIA, the software specialist based in Technopark Zurich, has been part of the Axpo energy group since April 1. According to a press release, it will integrate the Zurich-based start-up, which was founded in 2018, into its subsidiary Axpo Grid in the coming months. The LINIA brand is to be retained and will continue to be used externally. No financial details of the transaction were disclosed.

"With the acquisition of LINIA as a proven specialist in automated power grid inspection, we are expanding our scope of delivery and achieving a unique product depth," Keyvan Shokoofh, Head of Sales & Market at Axpo Grid, is quoted as saying. According to the press release, the LINIA offering enables a digitalized inspection process that "significantly increases inspection quality, speed and safety while reducing costs and CO2 emissions".

The two companies have already been working together for several years on automated aerial surveys of power lines and data analysis. According to LINIA co-founder and Managing Director Lorenzo Arizzoli-Bulato, the even closer cooperation now offers "ideal conditions for further developing and marketing LINIA software and services". ce/mm
