Basel Fire Department Receives Electric All-Wheel Fleet from Flux Mobility

Winterthur/Basel – The Basel professional fire department is getting eight electric vehicles from Flux Mobility. The order follows a pilot test by the fire department with an electric all-wheel drive vehicle from the Winterthur-based start-up.

Flux Mobility has received an order from the Basel professional fire department for eight electrically powered all-wheel drive vehicles. The vans and emergency vehicles are equipped for different requirements, the young company from Winterthur, which specializes in the construction of customer-specific electric vans, explains in a press release. Last summer, the Basel professional fire department took delivery of its first electric all-wheel drive vehicle for a pilot project.

In this pilot project, the special vehicle for height and depth rescue was tested under real conditions for efficiency, behavior when fully loaded, braking behavior and maneuverability, among other things, explains Flux Mobility. "The Flux vehicles have passed all tests in recent months and have convinced us even more with the option of direct power supply," says Patrick Sumi, Project Manager of the Basel Fire Department, in the press release. "Such functions can make life much easier for the emergency services, especially in the event of long downtimes."

With the vehicles tailored to the needs of the professional fire department, Flux Mobility wants to enable them to switch to emission-free mobility while maintaining the safety and functionality of the fleet. The vehicles were developed in collaboration with Tony Brändle AG from Wängi TG, which specializes in the construction of fire engines, ambulances and police vehicles. "When developing new technologies and drive concepts, good cooperation between the various project partners is key," says Severin Ganz, Marketing and Sales Manager at Flux Mobility. ce/hs
