Batticuore rents out gravel bikes

Zurich – The bicycle service provider Batticuore now offers gravel bikes for rent with and without luggage. The founders are thus pursuing the idea of the sharing economy. In the future, these services will be expanded to include tour tips in and outside Switzerland, packing suggestions and accessories.

The online bike store and service provider Batticuore, based in Zurich, has set up a new rental service. According to a press release, Stavanger gravel bikes from the Finnish brand Pelago and panniers from the British company Restrap can now be rented. They are available in three versions: in the basic version, the bike is rented with a lock, light and repair kit. Other versions include a light or fully packed version. In addition, the operators of Batticuore, Caspar Eberhard and David Pinzon, are on hand to provide interested parties with valuable tips. According to David Pinzon, Batticuore was looking for "a robust, high-quality steel gravel bike that is comfortable to ride even when fully loaded". To this end, Restrap manufactures all its products as locally and sustainably as possible.

As an advocate of more bicycle traffic and deceleration vacations, Eberhard is also the first tester of all products in the store: "I find the sharing economy approach exciting," he is quoted as saying. "You no longer have to own everything. So many things are bought and only used once. We want to offer an alternative."

In the future, the range of services will be expanded to include tour planning in and outside Switzerland as well as numerous accessories. In addition to the rental service, Batticuore also wants to continue to operate as a bike boutique. ce/ww
