Climathon 2024 in Zurich awards prizes to six climate protection projects

Zurich – Around 150 people discussed new ideas for climate protection in mobility, art and culture as well as climate adaptation at the Climathon Zurich 2024. Six of the 17 projects presented received prize money. The Climathon was organized by the Impact Hub in collaboration with the City of Zurich.

Around 150 people from various disciplines took part in this year's Climathon Zurich, the organizers, Impact Hub and the City of Zurich, announced in a joint press release. Over the course of 32 hours, climate protection solutions for mobility, climate adaptation and art and culture were discussed. Of the 17 ideas developed, six received funding totaling CHF 40,000.

According to the press release, four of them particularly impressed the jury. In this way, the Kaleido Fäscht aims to use virtual reality to make a world imaginable that combines creativity and sustainability. Elderflower provides older people with a digital assistant for adequate fluid intake. Employees can anonymously rate the sustainability of their company on the Greendoor platform. The GreenMiles bonus system rewards climate-friendly travel with points for purchases from partner companies.

Climathons are held in over 200 cities worldwide. In Zurich, the hackathon "mobilizes and connects many people for local climate protection every year", says Lara Mogge, programme manager at Impact Hub Zurich.
