CUTISS lands 2nd place in the Spark Award digital prize

Schlieren ZH/Düsseldorf – Medtech CUTISS AG is runner-up in the Spark Award for its self-developed skin tissue therapy. The German Digital Prize was awarded for the tenth time by “Handelsblatt” and McKinsey for outstanding DeepTech innovations.

(CONNECT) CUTISS has won second place in the Spark Award from "Handelsblatt" and McKinsey for outstanding DeepTech innovations in Germany, Austria and Switzerland in 2025. Medtech, based in the Bio-Technopark Schlieren-Zurich, is a spin-off of the University of Zurich and received the award for its self-developed, automatically cultivated skin tissue, which adapts and grows like its own. The award recognizes "pioneering work in personalized regenerative medicine and the combination of bioengineering and automation to transform skin surgery for patients with severe skin lesions," CUTISS said in a press release.

Skin tissue treatments are used for patients who require surgical treatment of the skin as a result of severe burns or reconstructive and aesthetic requirements. "This opens up a new perspective for patients in terms of faster healing and sustainable results," it explains. According to the description, this is the tenth time that the German Digital Prize has honored "technology visionaries of our time whose science-based innovation in the fields of robotics, biotechnology, quantum computing, AI or cyber security is impressive".

CEO and co-founder Daniela Marino's company was the only finalist from Switzerland. The other nine finalists came from Germany. According to a statement, Black Semiconductor came out on top.
