Zurich – The Swiss digital economy awarded its best companies, organisations and personalities of the year on 13 November in Zurich’s Hallenstadion. The winners are Bühler, the Office of Economic Affairs of the Canton of Zurich, ISS Switzerland, AKENZA, mimic robotics, into technologies, Leuchter IT as well as Nathalie Kern, Simon Weigold, and Alina Matyukhina.
(CONNECT) At the Digital Economy Award 2025, a total of 24 finalists had the chance to emerge as winners in one of the categories. At the awards ceremony on November 13 in Zurich's Hallenstadion, over 800 guests from the worlds of business, administration, politics and research celebrated six projects and three personalities as winners, according to a press release.
According to the organiser, the use of artificial intelligence (AI) was once again central to many of the projects submitted this year. The Digital Excellence Commercial category was won by the two Zurich-based companies ISS Switzerland and AKENZA. The facility manager and the IoT specialists use AI to "respond to the needs of the buildings faster, more precisely and with fewer resources". The Office of Economic Affairs of the Canton of Zurich won the Digital Excellence GOV & NPO category for its AI Sandbox, a funding programme for AI innovations "that is internationally unique".
Mimic robotics is the winner of the Next Global Hot Thing category. The spin-off of the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Zurich, founded in 2024, was recognised for its humanoid robots with arms and hands. According to the Zurich-based start-up, the technology is already being tested in industry and by logistics service providers.
Young talents also received prizes in the NextGen Hero category. They went to Nathalie Kern from the OST - University of Applied Sciences of Eastern Switzerland for her approach to harmonising digital solutions in the public sector and to Simon Weigold from the University of Lucerne for his commitment to democratising legal knowledge.
In the ICT Education & Training category, into technologies from Chur won the group of up to 20 ICT employees, Leuchter IT Solutions from Lucerne won the group of up to 100 ICT employees and plant manufacturers won the group of up to 100 ICT employees. Bühler from Uzwil SG, the group with over 100 ICT employees. Bühler also emerged as the overall winner in this category. The prize was awarded for the hybrid learning approaches with which Bühler AG "responds to the preferences of the next generation and successfully merges these with its industrial tradition".
The Pascal award, presented jointly with the online magazine Inside IT, went to Alina Matyukhina. As CSO, she is in charge of global cyber security at Siemens Smart Infrastructure building technology in Zug. ce/mm
