DiNAMIQS acquires licenses from Excellgene

(CONNECT) DiNAMIQS has secured two licenses from the Valais-based biotech company Excellgene. According to a press release, DiNAMIQS, a laboratory specializing in viral vectors based at the Bio-Technopark Schlieren-Zurich, will thus gain access to Excellgene's HEKExpress and HEK2Express suspension cell lines. These are used in the production of recombinant adeno-associated viruses (AAV) and lentiviruses for in vivo and ex vivo gene therapies.

DiNAMIQS was impressed by the growth rates and stable doubling times of these cell lines over several cycles in commercial serum-free media, explains its technical director Eduard Ayuso. "Both lentivirus and adeno-associated vector yields were at the upper end of reported market values. In addition, we observed a superior purity profile, particularly in the ratio of full to empty particles across multiple AAV productions."

Excellgene specializes in the development of high-performance mammalian cell lines, bioprocesses and protein expression systems. "Our HEKExpress and HEK2Express cell line platforms are designed for high performance and robustness with all types of viral vectors," explains Excellgene CEO Maria Wurm. "By partnering with DiNAMIQS, we can bring these technologies to patients faster by enabling consistent, high-yield production from research to GMP scale."
