Zurich – Ecospeed and Topstar are entering into a partnership for greater sustainability. By using the Ecospeed software solution, the CO2 emissions in various areas of office chair production are to be balanced in accordance with the Greenhouse Gas Protocol standard.
Zurich-based software developer Ecospeed and German-based office chair manufacturer Topstar are joining forces to achieve greater CO2 neutrality. According to a press release, Topstar intends to use the Ecospeed software for its carbon footprint assessments in the production of office chairs, thereby expanding its commitment to sustainable business practices, which was already strengthened in 2016.
After examining several solutions, the decision was made in favor of the software from Ecospeed. It enables precise balancing and optimization of the CO2 footprint in accordance with the requirements of the Greenhouse Gas Protocol standard. "The software impressed with its ease of use, extensive databases and high level of accuracy. The support provided by Ecospeed online and on site completed the positive picture," it says.
Topstar plans to draw up carbon footprints for various business areas such as assembly and warehousing. The data collected could be used to develop "targeted measures to reduce the carbon footprint" . CO2 consumption is also to be reviewed in the Materials and Production Processes departments, in some cases in cooperation with suppliers. Topstar expects this holistic approach to provide "valuable information for decisions and optimizations in terms of sustainability".
The commitment to greater sustainability brings benefits for the environment, employees and customers. In addition, skilled workers looking for a job in a value-oriented company could be addressed. ce/heg
