Empa - Open Day

Empa opens its (laboratory) doors!
Fancy some research? Interested in finding answers to some of the pressing issues of our time – climate change and the energy transition? Curious to find out what all this has to do with new materials? Then come and visit us on September 14 – we will open our laboratory doors to you! Discover innovative and surprising inventions and novel technologies from the Empa laboratories that make our lives easier and more sustainable.

At the new research campus of Empa and Eawag in Dübendorf, you and your family can take a look behind the scenes and visit the places where groundbreaking innovations are created and where research is carried out into solutions for a sustainable, liveable future.

What does this, our future, look like? And what innovations are needed so that we can achieve the sustainability goals that Switzerland has set itself? The materials and technologies developed at Empa not only pave the way to a future worth living, they also strengthen Swiss industry in international competition and thus help to secure our prosperity in the future. After all, around 70% of all innovations worldwide are based on new materials. In other words: no technological breakthroughs without materials research.

At our open day, we will show you numerous exciting applications of our fascinating materials. Among other things, the focus is on new materials and technologies that go far beyond net zero; they not only no longer emit CO2, but also help to remove the greenhouse gas from the atmosphere, in other words to “decarbonize” the Earth’s atmosphere to a certain extent – and thus counteract global warming. You will also learn more about how Empa know-how is accelerating the energy transition and enabling a resource-conserving circular economy and a healthy life in an intact environment.

We look forward to welcoming you to Dübendorf on Saturday, September 14, 2024! Click here for the schedule of the day.
