Field Food AG and IRISgo receive innovation award

Illnau ZH/Horw LU – Two start-ups have been honored with the Igeho Rising Star Awards at Igeho in Basel. Field Food AG convinced the jury with its vegan egg substitute EggField. IRISgo received the innovation award for thermo cups with a new type of closure system.

The start-ups Field Food AG from Illnau and IRISgo from Horw have been presented with the Igeho Rising Star Awards for innovation at Igeho, the largest meeting place for the catering and hotel industry. The jury prize went to Field Food for plant-based egg products under the EggField brand. The audience award went to IRISgo for reusable cups. The prize money amounts to CHF 2500 in each case.

Field Food is specialized in plant-based egg alternatives. According to the company, the liquid product EggField One Aquafaba and the powder version, EggField Plus, are made from pulses, vegetable proteins and natural starches. Their foaming, emulsifying, binding and gelling properties make them an equivalent substitute for whole eggs, egg whites and egg yolks in a variety of recipes. Previously available egg substitutes have a reduced taste and are not suitable for reproducing the "unique textures" of the original. Another reason why many consumers steer clear of conventional plant-based egg alternatives is the long list of artificial ingredients and additives on the label.

The Horw-based start-up IRISgo develops and produces reusable thermo mugs. The drinking cups stand out thanks to their lidless closure system. The coffee aroma lasts longer thanks to the larger drinking opening. The IRISgo cup can be cleaned by hand, is leak-proof and, if handled correctly, is safe against unintentional opening. The cups also offer greater protection against knockout drops and other substances. According to the company, such an incident was the reason for founding the company. Inspiration also came from a James Bond film intro. ce/heg
