Zurich – Flexion has raised 50 million dollars in a Series A financing round. The developers of intelligent humanoid robots want to use this to expand their team in Zurich, scale their computing and robot fleets, establish a presence in the USA and drive forward commercialization.
(CONNECT) Flexion can continue to work on improving the intelligence of humanoid robots with 50 million dollars in fresh capital. The aim of the start-up, which was founded in December 2024, is for these humanoid robots to be able to work together with humans instead of being dependent on them.
According to a Flexion press release, renowned venture capitalists are supporting this project by participating in a Series A financing round: NVentures, the venture capital arm of Californian semiconductor developer NVIDIA, Cayman Islands-registered DST Global Partners, Amsterdam-based Prosus Ventures, London-based Moonfire Ventures and Zug-based Redalpine Venture Partners. This round follows a seed financing round of 7.35 million, which Flexion claims to have received a few months ago from Moonfire, redalpine and Frst from Paris.
Flexion intends to use the fresh capital to expand its research and development team in Zurich and scale up its computing and robot fleets. In addition, a presence is to be established in the USA and the commercialization of the company's own autonomy stack is to be accelerated. "We are already working with major OEM partners," says Flexion, "and today's news will help to expand these partnerships globally."
Flexion does not work on the bodies, but on the brains of robots. The start-up's autonomy stack includes the command layer with language models for logical thinking, the movement layer with a vision-language-action model and a transformer-based full-body control with low latency and a modular library of skills. According to the press release, Flexion's founding team comes from the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Zurich, NVIDIA, Meta, Google, Tesla and Amazon. ce/mm
