Schlieren ZH – HeiQ introduces a product for the production phase that eliminates persistent odors in feathers and down. It is completely bio-based and, according to HeiQ, solves a problem that no one has solved before: It breaks down the odor-forming components of fat from geese and ducks.
HeiQ is adding an anti-odor product for down and feather products to its HeiQ Fresh range. It is used in the production phase to remove the persistent odor of the natural duck and goose fat with which the animals impregnate their feathers. The HeiQ product uses a combination of pre- and probiotics, so-called synbiotics, which help to break down the odor-forming components. According to a press release, it was developed to combat the "persistent, unpleasant odor often associated with down jackets, comforters and pillows".
This innovation will be presented in the Swiss pavilion at Techtextil, the leading international trade fair for technical textiles and nonwovens. It will take place from April 23 to 26 in Frankfurt am Main.
"The new addition to the HeiQ Fresh range addresses a real problem that many brand partners and manufacturers have been facing for decades," Mike Abbott, Head of HeiQ's Textiles & Flooring business unit, is quoted as saying. "By taking bad odors out of the equation, we also remove a relevant barrier to the purchase of feather and down products - a problem that no one has been able to solve until now." ce/mm
