Solutions for the society of the future – effective, sustainable and socially acceptable

With innovative and applied research projects, our interdisciplinary team develops practical decision-making knowledge for politics and institutions in order to develop sustainable solutions at micro, meso and macro level.

We pursue a participatory research approach and work closely with an advisory committee consisting of senior citizens: Our aim is to conduct research not just about older people, but together with them. We also offer advice, further training, lectures and workshops on the topics of age and ageing.

Age Innovation Prize

The Age Innovation Prize, organized by the IAF, is a nationwide competition that promotes innovative ideas that address the challenges of age(ing). The award recognizes technological (AgeTech) and social innovations that strengthen the independence, social participation, quality of life and health of older people.

With the Age Innovation Prize, the IAF, in partnership with the Age Foundation and sponsors such as Margerite, promotes committed ideas that sustainably improve the lives of older people. From 2026, social innovations – such as new forms of living together, support or participation in old age – will be awarded alongside technological innovations for the first time. The Age Innovation Prize helps to create a better future for older people.
