Isopoda wins competition for Kyburz circular economy

Freienstein ZH – Team Isopoda has won this year’s Kyburz Circular Economy Challenge. In the competition for the circular economy, decommissioned electric vehicles from Kyburz were converted into new vehicles. The starting signal for the Memorial WAVE 2024 e-rally was given at the same time.

The Isopoda team's return to reuse project has won the main prize in this year's Circular Economy Challenge organized by Kyburz. In this year's competition for the circular economy organized by the manufacturer of electric vehicles, decommissioned Kyburz postal vehicles had to be transformed into innovative new vehicles or new types of equipment. Team Isopoda impressed the jury with an e-trike.

Second prize went to the Tasty Amber team. Here, the electric delivery vehicle was converted into an energy self-sufficient beer dispensing station. For its Movere Vastum project, the mo-va.tech team used parts of its postal vehicle to construct a waste disposal system that enables small containers to be emptied using Kyburz vehicles. "I am amazed at the creativity and technical skills with which the Challenge teams implement really cool and innovative ideas from decommissioned postal vehicles," Erik Wilhelm, organizer and jury of the Circular Economy Challenge, is quoted as saying in the press release.

The award ceremony took place on September 5 at the Kyburz Switzerland summer party in Freienstein. This was also the starting signal for this year's edition of the E-Rally Memorial WAVE (World Advanced Vehicle Expedition). It is organized annually by Louis Palmer. The electric vehicle pioneer was the first person to circumnavigate the globe in a solar-powered vehicle in 2007/2008. 23 electric vehicles are taking part in the Memorial WAVE 2024. Over the course of the tour, they will stop off at various companies that are committed to electromobility. ce/hs
