KUORI Participates in Fashion for Good Initiative

(CONNECT) KUORI is part of the project The Next Stride: Bio-Based Materials for Footwear Soles of the Amsterdam-based platform Fashion for Good, which develops innovations for the fashion industry. This twelve-month project aims to develop bio-based alternatives for shoe soles in order to make shoes more environmentally friendly, according to a press release.

In addition to KUORI, Adidas, Zalando, Target from Minneapolis in the US state of Minnesota, Algenesis Labs from San Diego (California), Balena from Milan, Evoco from Toronto in the Canadian province of Ontario, Yulex from Seattle (Washington) and Satra from Kettering in the UK are also participating in the project. The findings gathered during the project will be used to draw up guidelines on how bio-based shoe soles can be produced on a large scale.

"If Adidas, Target & Zalando can rethink plastic, what's stopping the others?" says KUORI. The start-up is proud that industry leaders are taking action against the negative impact of shoe production on the environment.

KUORI, based in the Bio-Technopark Schlieren-Zurich, develops plastic alternatives for the circular economy. These materials are bio-based and biodegradable and are supplied as granules. ce/jh
