(CONNECT) Omnilex, an offering from Zurich-based Lawcalize AG, has secured $4.5 million in capital in a seed funding round. The financing round was led by the start-up promoter Founderful, which is also based in Zurich, according to a statement on LinkedIn. Plug and Play Tech Center, Tiny Supercomputer Investment Company, Angel Invest and "leading legal experts" were involved.

The spin-off from the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology Lausanne (EPFL) with a founding team from the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology Zurich (ETH) has developed a platform for legal research supported by artificial intelligence (AI). The fresh capital will now be used to extend this platform to the area of legal advice. The company has developed an AI-generated legal commentary in which laws and court rulings from different legal systems are automatically linked and interpreted. According to the company, the platform has already stored over 200,000 legal comments, which are used by more than 6,000 lawyers across Europe. ce/ww
