Oncobit cooperates with TrilliumBIO on eye tumor

(CONNECT) Oncobit has entered into a strategic collaboration with TrilliumBIO, a diagnostics company based in Rockville, Maryland, USA, according to a press release. TrilliumBIO, which is active in biomarker identification, thus gains access to the control solutions developed by Oncobit, which are used for North American patients with uveal melanoma, a malignant tumor in the eye.

As part of this collaboration, TrilliumBIO's solutions are manufactured in the USA. The American company will use the Personalized Monitoring (PM) Platform developed by Oncobit, a spin-off from the University of Zurich. "Given our expertise in rare disease diagnostics, TrilliumBiO is proud to bring a breakthrough solution for uveal melanoma to the U.S. market," Laura Vivian, CEO of TrilliumBiO, is quoted in the release. "By combining advanced diagnostics with monitoring, we offer a comprehensive solution that provides patients and their families facing this rare cancer with clearer insights and more informed decisions throughout their treatment."

Oncobit recently raised 1.9 million Swiss francs in a financing round. In this context, CEO Claudia Scheckel expressed her hope of "making precise cancer monitoring generally accessible". She is now correspondingly pleased: "By expanding the availability of next-generation diagnostics for this rare type of cancer, we are helping patients and families to cope with treatment and at the same time creating momentum for new biomarkers, indications and the future of precision oncology." ce/jh
