Pearl Technology works together with Positrigo

Schlieren ZH/Zurich – Pearl Technology and Positrigo are working together to develop a new positioning concept for patients. It will be used in Positrigo’s brain PET system to examine the brain.

Pearl Technology and Positrigo are jointly developing a holistic positioning concept for patients according to the latest standards for brain examinations with a PET scanner. According to a Press release The Zurich-based medtech company Positrigo has chosen Pearl Technology, based in Schlieren, as its "Preferred Partner" in order to benefit from its expertise in the fixation of patients in nuclear medicine. As with many imaging modalities, patient positioning is a key component for image quality, comfort and hygiene with the new brain PET system.

Positrigo presented its new brain imaging device in September. NeuroLF was presented at the congress of the European Association of Nuclear Medicine (EANM) in Vienna. The brain positron emission tomography (PET) system was developed to facilitate the diagnosis and monitoring of brain diseases such as Alzheimer's, Parkinson's, epilepsy and also tumors.

The demand for brain scans will increase significantly, according to Stefan Bircher, Chief Commercial Officer of Positrigo. "After a good three years of development, we are now close to approval, which means that development will soon be complete and we expect to obtain FDA approval in the USA and the CE mark for sale in Europe next year," Bircher is quoted as saying.

Pearl Technology  manufactures ProBelt belts from a hard-wearing smooth PU film. They can also be safely disinfected with 90 percent alcohol. According to the company's product page , the fact that patients can be fixed in place completely without the Velcro fasteners, which are prone to dirt deposits, is a further hygiene advantage. ce/gba
