Wädenswil ZH – The grow cluster has a new Managing Director in Dr. Peter Steiner. The biotechnologist and serial founder in the pharmaceutical industry succeeds Dr. Dolf van Loon as head of the start-up promoter for up-and-coming life sciences start-ups in the Zimmerberg-Sihltal region.
(CONNECT) The grow cluster foundation board has appointed Dr. Peter Steiner as its new managing director, according to a statement. He was introduced to his new role on November 1 by his predecessor in office, Dr. Dolf van Loon, and will take over on January 1, 2026. Van Loon has built up and shaped the grow cluster on the left bank of Lake Zurich over the past 15 years.
The grow cluster supports young companies and start-ups in the health, nutrition and environmental sectors in Wädenswil and Horgen. Laboratory and office space is available for this purpose, as is a regional network of business, science and politics. The grow cluster cooperates particularly closely with the Zurich University of Applied Sciences in Wädenswil.
According to the information provided, Steiner prevailed against more than 100 applicants. The Board of Trustees describes the biotechnologist as a proven expert and serial entrepreneur in the life sciences sector. His experience ranges from founding and scaling young companies to integrating them into international corporations. He brings in-depth knowledge of process development, digitalization, infrastructure management and business development and has an extensive network in the Swiss life science community.
According to Foundation President Matthias Kaiserswerth, this will "make a decisive contribution to further strengthening the innovation ecosystem in the Zimmerberg-Sihl Valley". Steiner himself formulates his goal as "to promote and expand this dynamic cluster of innovative start-ups - with the vision that 'grow cluster' will be mentioned in the same breath as the leading life science centers of Zurich, Basel, Lausanne or Geneva". ce/mm
