Retirement center improves medication administration with Sanetics

The Hofwiesen retirement center in Dietlikon has tested the SaniGuide intelligent direction station from Sanetics AG as part of a pilot project. The start-up, based in Technopark Winterthur, is developing a system to support nursing staff in the distribution of medication. It is designed to reduce personnel costs and avoid alignment errors.

According to a report by Sanetics, SaniGuide automatically docks onto the existing careCoach software, which is used to manage the medication of the residents of the retirement home. The data is transferred directly to SaniGuide. The straightening station guides the employees through the straightening process and then carries out a check with the support of computer vision. According to Sanetics , the system recognizes all medications approved by SwissMedic.

According to the report, the pilot project launched in 2023 has proven its worth. The straightening process can now be carried out by one person for the entire center. Up to now, two people in each of the three departments of the building have been involved in the straightening process. This leaves more time for caring for the residents.
