Ruf launches new Communicator for VisiWeb

Schlieren ZH – Ruf Avatech AG is launching the VisiWeb Communicator on the market. The system is intended to close a gap in voice communication between the control center and passengers on public transport. This increases passenger safety.

Ruf is expanding its VisiWeb passenger information system with a new Communicator. "In certain situations, the control center must be able to actively contact the vehicle in order to communicate with passengers and provide them with important information," explains the Schlieren-based company in a press release. The new VisiWeb Communicator has the option of establishing a full-duplex voice connection. This means that the connection does not have to be initiated from the vehicle, as is the case with passenger intercoms, but can be initiated by the control center's operating personnel.

The new Communicator thus contributes to improving passenger safety, writes Ruf. Specifically, the Schlieren-based specialist for passenger information systems in public transport points to improved responsiveness in emergencies and advantages for customer service. Both passengers in the vehicle and people in the vicinity of the vehicle can be addressed from the control center. The people addressed can also respond via microphones fitted to the inside and outside of the vehicle. In exceptional situations, it is also possible for the control center to listen to the passenger compartment and the area around the vehicle via the microphones of the VisiWeb Communicator in order to "make a more precise assessment of the situation". ce/hs
