Self-monitoring in the classification of novel foods

Are you planning to market a product and wondering whether it is a novel food? The correct classification of novel food is an important part of your self-regulation: whether novel food or traditional novel food. To support you in this process, we invite you to a specific specialist training course.

Aim of the event

We will show you in a practical way how you can carry out the “Novel or not Novel?” clarification in a legally compliant manner, which new digital tools the FSVO makes available to you and what the start to a successful authorization looks like.

Contents of the training

In a compact 2 hours, we will guide you through the following focal points:

  1. The crux of classification: What specific questions do companies have to ask themselves when classifying novel foods as part of self-regulation?
  2. BLV tool box: Get to know and correctly use the new web tools for grading assistance.
  3. From suspicion to authorization dossier: If a food is classified as “novel” – what specific steps are necessary for an authorization application?
