(CONNECT) Zurich-based start-up Swijin AG, a company specializing in highly functional sports bras, has taken first place in the early-stage category at the world finals of the Entrepreneurship World Cup (EWC), according to a company statement. The company received the highest prize money of 250,000 dollars. The award ceremony took place in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, as part of the Biban Forum 2025.
Swijin was the only company from Switzerland to be among the 100 start-ups invited to the Global Finals. In total, over 10,000 companies from 169 countries applied for the EWC 2025. The company came out on top in the final round against, among others, the diagnostics start-up from Harvard University, Mablab, and the aerospace company SARsatX from Saudi Arabia, which took second and third place respectively.
"When we founded Swijin, we wanted to finally develop a sports bra that no longer causes pain," explains Swijin founder and CEO Claudia Glass. "Today we are on the biggest start-up stage in the world, and we are winning. This is not just a victory for our team, but for all women who deserve a better solution."
According to a statement from the EWC, American hardware manufacturer Brelyon also won first place in the Growth Phase category, while TasmanIon, a New Zealand developer of aluminum-ion battery technologies, won in the Idea Phase category. In the Space Tech category, the four companies Stitch3D, SpaceMap, Sytemap and eAgro were honored.
The EWC aims to provide a significant platform with tools and resources to help entrepreneurs develop their ideas and achieve their goals. At the same time, the competition supports SMEs with specialized training programs, intensive training and opportunities for exchange. ce/nta
