SWISS ENGINEERS International

The SWISS ENGINEERS International Association (SEI) is the leading international association for engineers in Switzerland. Its history dates back to 1869, when an association of engineers and architects was founded in the then still independent Grand Duchy of Baden – north of the Swiss border – whose members were instrumental in the development of Swiss industry in the border region and beyond; this association lives on today as AIV Konstanz (1869). For their part, Swiss engineers abroad were already organizing themselves in the 1920s in official foreign sections of the STV – in Milan, Paris and Buenos Aires – which already had several hundred members at the time.

In 2017, Professor Yury Ovseenko continued this tradition and initially initiated the FG ISE specialist group in the Swiss Engineering STV, from which the SEI later emerged as a joint association with the AIV Konstanz (1869). Since its foundation, the SEI has gained a total of around 1000 members. Its aim is to promote exchange between members and to provide a discussion platform for topics relating to international engineering by acting as a driving force both nationally and internationally.

Membership of our association is open to all entrepreneurs, managers and employees of companies from all areas of technology and engineering in Switzerland and abroad. SEI acts as a bridge between local Swiss engineers, Swiss engineers working abroad and foreign engineers working in Switzerland.

We join forces in local and international networks across language and cultural boundaries, improve the exchange of knowledge and are a globally recognized Swiss engineering association. The added value for members:

  1. Access to the network of engineers and architects organized in the SEI and to external third parties
  2. Free or discounted training, conferences and debates on international topics and national issues that either have international implications or are relevant to our foreign engineers
  3. Offers and benefits from companies and/or organizations for SEI
  4. Opportunity to play an active and positive role on the SEI board if desired
  5. Representing the SEI at international and local events when Board members are not available
  6. Opportunity to participate in projects and regional groups if these are formed or a corresponding request is received
  7. On request, inclusion in a talent pool for companies and/or projects looking for resources
  8. Access to related engineering networks
