Technology Briefing: "Mining the Atmosphere" - CO2 from the atmosphere as a raw material for new materials

To achieve our climate targets and prevent irreversible changes to the climate system, we must not only curb our greenhouse gas emissions, but also remove excess man-made CO2 from the atmosphere. This is the aim of a new, large-scale Empa research initiative, “Mining the Atmosphere”.

This year’s Technology Briefing on “Mining the Atmosphere” – CO2 from the atmosphere as a raw material for new materials – will focus on how CO2 can be used as a raw material and how a completely new economic system can be created in the process.

Results from research projects and practical examples will show you how marketable new solutions can be put into practice thanks to close cooperation between research and industry. You can expect exciting input presentations from Climeworks, ReCoal and Empa.
