Zurich/Volketswil ZH – Celeroton TurboCell from Volketswil is the latest company to receive a loan guarantee from the Federal Office for the Environment’s Technology Fund. The company’s oil-free compressor and drive systems are used in fuel cells.
(CONNECT) The Technology Fund of the Federal Office for the Environment has added Celeroton TurboCell AG to its portfolio, according to a press release. The Technology Fund grants loan guarantees to innovative Swiss companies whose new products help to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, increase energy efficiency, promote renewable energies or conserve natural resources.
The Volketswil-based spin-off of Celeroton AG describes itself as the technology leader for high-speed, oil-free turbocompressors and drive systems for fuel cell applications. "Our patented compressor systems are unique in terms of size, efficiency and reliability and are all designed and manufactured by us," says the company. "We are convinced that we have a highly innovative technology that supports hydrogen drives and thus contributes to combating climate change."
The Technology Fund is a federal climate policy instrument. Strategic responsibility lies with the Federal Office for the Environment, Climate Division. The Zurich office is managed by Emerald Technology Ventures. "Energy policy independence is also increasingly coming into focus in Switzerland," says Simone Riedel Riley, head of the office, in the technology fund's latest newsletter. "Funding instruments such as the Technology Fund make an important contribution here by specifically strengthening the innovative strength of Swiss SMEs and start-ups."
According to the newsletter, the technology fund's portfolio currently comprises 132 innovative Swiss companies. These have guarantees totaling CHF 268 million. 56 portfolio companies were able to raise additional equity totaling CHF 268 million in 2025 to drive their growth. This corresponds to 5.3 times the amount of the guarantee. The reported environmental benefit of the portfolio companies amounts to 10.8 million tons of CO2 equivalents as at the end of 2024. ce/mm
