US Border Patrol uses VR simulator from Loft Dynamics

(CONNECT) The Air and Marine Operations (AMO) division of U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) uses a VR flight simulator from Loft Dynamics in Dübendorf. As can be seen from a press release, the Airbus H125 simulator supported by virtual reality is used to train pilots of surveillance aircraft and helicopters. The simulator is approved for pilot training by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and the European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA).

The AMO flies more than 240 aircraft, including 100 Airbus H125 helicopters, around the clock on dangerous missions to protect the American coast and to prevent drug trafficking and people smuggling, according to the press release. The VR simulators at the Oklahoma City training center are used to train experienced pilots - so-called 600-plus pilots - even better.

The CBP is the first department of the Department of Homeland Security and the second law enforcement agency in the USA, after the Los Angeles Police Department, to use VR simulators from Loft Dynamics for flight training. ce/ww
