Schlieren/Dübendorf ZH – Venture Kick is supporting the Dübendorf-based start-up FireDrone AG with 150,000 Swiss francs. The spin-off of the Swiss Federal Laboratories for Materials Science and Technology has developed a drone that can withstand temperatures of more than 200 degrees Celsius.

(CONNECT) The Schlieren-based start-up promoter Venture Kick is financing the start-up FireDrone with 150,000 Swiss francs, as detailed in a press release. The funding is intended to help the spin-off from the Swiss Federal Laboratories for Materials Science and Technology (Empa) to bring its heat-resistant drone to market. The drones developed by FireDrone can withstand temperatures of more than 200 degrees Celsius and are therefore suitable for use in the vicinity of burning buildings or industrial furnaces.

"Venture Kick was a big win for us. The program helped us turn an ambitious idea into a company, sharpen our business model with valuable expert feedback and open doors to partners and investors," FireDrone co-founder Fabian Wiesemüller is quoted as saying in the press release. The company will use the fresh capital to expand its business development team, establish sales and maintenance partnerships and drive forward product certifications in order to accelerate market entry. In addition, pilot projects are to be converted into pre-orders.

According to Venture Kick, FireDrone primarily addresses two markets: High-temperature industrial inspections and public safety. Both together would represent a market volume of 12.1 billion dollars. ce/jh
