Virometix Receives Fresh Capital for Clinical Phase I

(CONNECT) Virometix has received 15 million dollars in a financing round from existing investors. According to the biotech company, the funds will support further clinical and development activities for V-212.

This is Virometix's lead, fully synthetic and serotype-independent pneumococcal vaccine candidate, which is currently in the clinical phase. For this first test on humans, the Schlieren-based company is collaborating with the Center for Vaccinology at the University of Ghent. The main results are expected in the first quarter of 2026.

The fresh capital will also be used to prepare the planned Phase I-b combination study with an approved pneumococcal conjugate vaccine. In addition, a sample validation is to be completed. Virometix also plans to implement improvements to its Synthetic Virus-Like Particle platform. According to the information provided, it is intended to quickly generate optimized vaccine candidates with excellent safety, efficacy, manufacturability and stability profiles.

Virometix was founded in 2009 as a spin-off of the University of Zurich and is a member of the Bio-Technopark Schlieren-Zurich.
