Wingtra gains new partner in Canada

Zurich – The Zurich-based drone manufacturer Wingtra is cooperating with Metacon Canada. The Canadian supplier of state-of-the-art construction technologies is now offering the professional drones developed by Wingtra. These can collate highly accurate, survey-quality aerial image data.

Wingtra is now cooperating with Metacon Canada (MetaconX), which operates out of Calgary in the province of Alberta, Fredericton (New Brunswick) and Halifax (Novia Scotia), in order to “give Canadians a leading edge on GIS”, further details of which can be found in a press release. The high-precision, vertical take-off and landing drones have been specially developed by the Zurich-based firm for GIS (geographic information system for mapping technology) purposes.

MetaconX was founded in 2022. According to the press release, its owners boast 75 years of experience in land surveying, engineering, construction and 3D positioning. The company is a leading provider of state-of-the-art construction technologies. On its website, a scrolling banner announces that MetaconX is now an official dealer for Wingtra drones.

The MetaconX website also presents Wingtra as a “leading manufacturer” of professional VTOL (vertical take-off and landing) drones that are specifically designed for aerial surveying and mapping activities within the construction industry. “Wingtra drones provide construction professionals with efficient and accurate data collection for enhanced project planning and monitoring”, the website concludes.

With this new partnership, the company’s growth plans across the Atlantic are also gaining momentum in North America. Since February 2023, Wingtra has been cooperating with Above Sensing, a company based in the Canadian province of British Columbia. In March 2023, Wingtra then closed a Series B funding round worth 22 million US dollars. According to a press release, one of the investors in this financing round, the Seattle-based venture capital firm DiamondStream Partners, announced at the time that it would assist Wingtra’s efforts to enter new markets in the Americas. In June 2023, new partnerships were agreed with the Mexican firms Systop and Sysmap. ce/mm/Café Europe
